Social Bites and Cressey Development Group team up to bring together diners in support of local charities

Vancouver Hobby Chefs Open their Homes to Diners and Charities for the return of #dinnerpartyYVR presented by Cressey

Social Bites announces the return of #dinnerpartyYVR presented by Cressey, the charitable cooking event where 30 hobby chefs open their homes to local diners for a home cooked meal, all in the name of charity. On Saturday, April 5th, 2014, 30 lovers of home cuisine across Vancouver will host simultaneous dinner parties for groups of four to six diners, with 100% of each $40 ticket donated to the host’s chosen charity through Chimp, the Charitable Impact Foundation.

With approximately 80% of last year’s dinner parties hosted in apartments & condominiums across the city, Social Bites teamed up with local builder Cressey Development Group to present this year’s event. As community creators, #dinnerpartyYVR was a natural fit for Cressey.

“We’re excited to partner with Social Bites because of the enormous potential of an event like this. Not only does #dinnerpartyYVR have people opening up their homes to friends they’ve never met in order to create new communities, it helps the larger community by driving awareness of amazing, local organizations that are giving back to our great city,” says Jason Turcotte of Cressey Development Group. “We’re also big believers in the power of great kitchens – our CresseyKitchen™ is a testament to this – and the culinary talents they can unleash.”

Following the success of the inaugural event, #dinnerpartyYVR is quickly gaining momentum as one of Vancouver’s most popular food-centric events. Annika Reinhardt, founder of Social Bites, expects the event will continue to flourish.

“We had a tremendous response to the first #dinnerpartyYVR which is evidence of the city’s passion for food but also willingness to give back to the community,” says Reinhardt. “I think there’s a unanimous desire to do social good in a city like Vancouver and this event provides the platform to do so while enjoying good food and new friends. It’s about making the opportunities to give back personal, fun – and most importantly delicious!”

This year, diners signing up for a meal by Wednesday, March 19th will be automatically entered to join a special Cressey Dinner Party. Hosted by local Vancouverite hobby chef turned MasterChef Canada Top 12 Finalist, Chef Josh Gale, diners will be treated to a gourmet meal in Cressey’s luxurious Arbutus Ridge showhome, with the meal benefiting Atira Women’s Resource Housing Society.

Meals are available at dinnerpartyYVR.com. Meals also include admission to the Cressey After Party hosted at Meccanica which will feature local desserts and entertainment. Throughout the night, diners will enjoy beer and wine courtesy of Granville Island Brewing and Serendipity Winery. Safe rides to the Cressey After Party will be provided by Modo The Car Co-op.
