Let the Spirit Move You BC Distilled Redefines Locally Conscious Drinking

 In just 11 short days, local spirits neophytes and aficionados alike will be sipping and sampling their way through the province’s finest spirits at BC Distilled, British Columbia’s premier micro-distillery festival. 16 of BC’s finest small-batch distilleries and 1 from the Yukon are set to showcase their artisanal gin, vodka, and whisky together with other fine spirits and liqueurs, all uniquely nuanced by locally grown grains and botanicals. 
 
Lauren Mote, award-winning bar manager at UVA Wine & Cocktail Bar and co-founder of Bittered Sling Extractswill be shaking and stirring up sample drinks to inspire home cocktail explorations. Mote’s creative libations feature her unique line of artisanal bitters in tandem with various BC spirits. Key ingredients for her “Doctor Who” cocktail include Odd Society Spirits’ “East Van” Vodka and Crème de Cassis together with Bittered Sling Clingstone Peach Bitters.
 
Gourmet bites from a number of Vancouver’s top restaurants are sure to pique festivalgoers’ palatesForage will be serving canapés of cured Douglas Fir smoked Yarrow Farms duck, and elderflower poached pear. Hearty Scotch eggs are on offer from Grain Tasting Bar, whileEdible Canada is dishing up crostini topped with cauliflower and Blackburn cheese purée, pickled wild onions, and parsnip crisps as well as wild ginger-cured Arctic Char with apple mignonette on pumpernickel. For those with a sweet tooth, XOXOLAT will have samples of their irresistible chocolates as well as sage advice on chocolate and spirits pairings.
 
In addition, attendees will enjoy beverages from Walter All-Natural Craft Caesar Mix and SIP Soda, and bites from Blackbird Public House & Oyster BarThe Distillery Bar + Kitchen and  Divina Olives.
 
Also in attendance will be The BC Hospitality Foundation, which provides monetary support for individuals within the hospitality community who are coping with a financial crisis arising from health or medical conditions. Donations are welcomed, and partial proceeds from the festival will go directly to the BCHF.
