Initially, I wasn’t too impressed with this vintage, although after being opened for some time it showed much better.  Garnet red in colour with medium intensity.  Aromas of smoke, earth, red fruit and a hint of spice on the nose.  Good balance with good mouth feel.  Pleasant fruit on the palate with chocolate lingering on the finish.  A good picnic wine or serve with charcuterie, burgers, BBQ’s chicken or pizza.

2009 Pinot Gris

This white wine was five years old when tasted.  This is rather old for a white wine other than some Rieslings and Chardonnays, however this wine held up nicely.  The nose showed aromas of honey, sweet ripe stone fruit and a hint of caramel.  The balance was crisp with good mouth feel.  The flavours followed the nose.  Luscious fruit lingered on the palate.

This wine improved after being opened for a while.  Ruby red colour with medium intensity.  The nose shows aromas of earth, red cherry, floral notes, forest floor and chocolate. Good balance with medium body and smooth ripe tannins.  The flavours follow the nose.  A medium-long finish with lingering dry red cherry. A good pinot to serve with sockeye salmon.
