HUNT FOR THE CITY’S NEXT TOP DESIGNER

VANCOUVER HOME + DESIGN SHOW ANNOUNCES 2ND ANNUAL HUNT FOR THE CITY’S NEXT TOP DESIGNER

Three local interior design hopefuls will compete for the title of
Urban Barn’s Next Top Designer: Reloaded, October 16-19, 2014 at BC Place Stadium

Cutthroat creatives, take note! The Vancouver Home + Design Show today announced the second coming of Urban Barn’s Next Top Designer: Reloaded in partnership with Urban Barn and Frontier Luxury Flooring. The hunt begins today for three local undiscovered interior designers and decorators to take part in the ultimate micro-management exercise: designing a 150 ft2 space with $5,000 worth of Urban Barn furniture and accessories for display (and public vote) at the Vancouver Home + Design Show, happening October 16-19, 2014 at BC Place.

“There was an overwhelming response to the very first Next Top Designer competition last fall, and we couldn’t wait to bring it back,” said Jill Kivett, regional director at Marketplace Events, owner and operator of the Vancouver Home + Design Show. “We’ve got a few new tricks up our sleeve this year, plus amazing prizing valued at more than $10,000. It’s going to be a high-stakes battle, that’s for sure.”

The designer of the space receiving the most votes will be awarded a booth at the 2015 Vancouver Home + Design Show, $1,000 to spend at Urban Barn and a feature inWestcoast Homes & Design magazine, while one lucky voter will walk away with a $5,000 Urban Barn shopping spree.

Hopeful applicants can follow these easy steps to enter:

  1. Follow the Vancouver Home + Design Show and Urban Barn on Pinterest.
  2. Create a Pinterest board named “Urban Barn’s Next Top Designer: Reloaded” showcasing their signature design aesthetic and favourite compact pieces from Urban Barn.
  3. Populate the board with as many images as necessary, with at least ten (10) pins from urbanbarn.com.
  4. Fill out the entry form at vancouverhomeshow.com and include the link to their contest Pinterest board.

“This year, we’re upping the ante by focusing on small space design, which is such a hot trend right now in Vancouver,” added Sebastien Fauteux, creative director at Urban Barn. “With the added challenge of an assigned theme colour and a few other surprises along the way, each of our designers’ creativity will definitely be put to the test. I can’t wait to see what they come up with!”

Urban Barn’s Next Top Designer: Reloaded is open for entries from today until Friday, July 18. Each of the three finalists will be announced in August on the Home + Garden Events Blog. For more information, please visit vancouverhomeshow.com.
