Festive And Active Holidays At Harrison Hot Springs

FESTIVE, ACTIVE AND A LITTLE COUNTRY – HOLIDAY TIME AT HARRISON HOT SPRINGS

Small-town charm and outdoor winter fun is only 90 minutes away from the crowds. With merry events, family-friendly snow sports and special entertainers, Harrison beckons to young families and seniors alike.

The season opens with the Festival of Trees, a fundraiser for the local foodbank, where local businesses decorate trees on display through out the upper lobby of the Harrison Hot Springs Resort & Spa. Visitors can wander through and learn about the different businesses in the two communities. Organized by Tourism Harrison, Harrison Agassiz Chamber of Commerce and the Harrison Hot Springs Resort & Spa. Dates: November 26th – January 3rd, 2015.

For little ones who love trains and those who like a show, the CPR Holiday Train will be dashing through the snow to reach the Agassiz train station at 5:00 pm on December 17th, 2014. This is North America’s longest running fundraising program, travelling across the country raising awareness and funds for food banks. The train arrival is a sight to behold as the 14 LED-decked railcars roll into town and musicians perform on the specially modified boxcar turned traveling stage. Christmas in the Village includes a number of events, ranging from a charming display of lights and decorations in the village, to the Passport to Christmas shopping event and The Magic of Christmas – a special afternoon with Santa.

Nearby Hemlock Mountain and Manning Park have alpine and cross-country ski areas, tubing parks and fewer crowds than the big resorts. Perfect for a relaxing day with the family or for those learning how to ski. After hitting the slopes, head back to the Harrison Hot Springs Resort and Spa. With five hot spring pools, all kept at different temperatures, you are sure to chase away the cold. Their Christmas Package includes two nights’ accommodation, a festive four-course Christmas Dinner and dancing in The Copper Room, and buffet breakfast each morning at the Lakeside Cafe. Rates start from $565 from Dec. 24th to 26th, 2014. Tourism Harrison has more information on events and accommodations, including special holiday rates.

The West Coast’s mild winters and stunning scenery were made for hiking. Harrison has many trails that will get your heart pumping and your shutter clicking. Feel like amping up your effort? Snowshoeing tours are also available from Cascade Outdoor Adventures. Want to try sturgeon or trout fishing? Todd received seven BC Country Music Award nominations in 2012 and has shared the stage with many of country music’s top acts, including Dwight Yoakum, Dierks Bentley, Gord Bamford and rock legend Randy Bachman.
