Two New Eateries Join the Downtown Kelowna Core

Debuting early in 2015, downtown Kelowna will welcome two new eateries in the Prestige Hotel on Abbott Avenue across from City Park and Okanagan Lake.

The Revival Group (formerly Twisted Tomato Group) have unleashed their creativity with two distinctive and unique spaces.  Working hand in hand with the talented team at Prestige Hotel and Resorts, the restaurant fronting Abbott Street is being entirely rebuilt and the bar will have a brand new appeal with over $1 million invested into the rebuilding and design of Pilgrim & Pearl and 27.

Pilgrim & Pearl will focus on fresh seafood along with hosting a central shuck and steam oyster station, launching the first oyster bar in the Okanagan.  A blackboard will announce the butcher cuts of the day to create your own surf & turf menu or satisfy the carnivore in the group.

Chef Peter Watkins in collaboration with Chef Jason Leizert have designed a menu that puts the spotlight on seafood and locally fresh-farmed produce with bright, clean flavours.  An open kitchen, large comfortable dining room and 20 seats at the oyster bar give options for guests to relax, unwind and celebrate.  Classic Vodka and Gin martinis will be standard fare along with a great selection of beers on tap.

Returning to Canada from London, UK, Professional Sommelier Derek Morrison has joined the Pilgrim & Pearl team and will be curating the wine and sparkling wine program. Morrison is currently spearheading the wines at Hedonism Wines, Europe’s largest wine boutique, containing the most extensive collection of wine and spirits and will bring this experience behind the bar to our Okanagan Valley guests.  Award winning mixologist Micah Jensen will be joining Morrison pouring quality spirits with a focus on classic vodka and gin martinis with several housemade garnishes, along with fresh fruit and herb combinations to perfectly pair with your oysters.

This light wood and granite accented space, is named after the famed ‘Pilgrim Pearl’,  a rare pearl with a 500-year storied history.  This large, perfectly symmetrical pear-shaped pearl, was passed from an African slave who found it in the Pearl Islands, to European royalty and finally onto the neck of Elizabeth Taylor as a gift from her then-husband Richard Burton for Valentine’s Day.

Next to Pilgrim & Pearl guests will discover 27.

Celebrating the creative spirits of the musical artists of the ’27 club’, 27 embraces the decadence and boldness of their lives.  Pushpin leather banquets, gold crown moldings, a modern take on Moroccan-style seating, create an exotic, playful social experience for the guests. The main bar will host a large selection of rare spirits with an apothecary of tinctures, elixirs, reductions, bitters and potions all created in-house by the talented bar team.  Tiki cocktails are the heart and soul of Gerry Jobe, Director of Operations for the Revival Group and his fingerprints can be found on the Voodoo Tiki featuring dark spirits, decadent and exotic flavours.

In contradiction to many other restaurants with a cocktail program, 27 is a cocktail lounge with a food program.  A collection of exotic small plates and modern dim-sum are served a-la carte, and just as you order a round of cocktails, you can order a round of bites to pair.  Decadent desserts make 27 a perfect spot to wrap up your evening.

Chef Jesse Rivard will be in the kitchen executing the menu, conceptualized by the talented culinary team and Chef Jason Leizert.

Both Pilgrim & Pearl and 27 are scheduled to officially open on Monday, February 2, 2015.
