Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub to open late August in Vancouver 

 

A ‘hundred thousand welcomes’ come to Main and Terminal with Dubh Linn Gate Vancouver, offering the newest gathering place for the neighbourhood. Opening late August, the Sea-to-Sky region’s celebrated Irish pub will open its doors to a brand new location in the heart of Southeast False Creek. Dubh Linn Gate, which has served up fine Irish hospitality in Whistler since 1997, is looking to offer the friendliest pour to parched patrons just steps from downtown Vancouver.

A spacious patio leads into a traditional pub atmosphere indoors, complete with smiling servers and a genuine Irish feel. Walking into the lilt of Irish laughter, the pub features traditional wood interiors with gold accents, highlighted with charming bric-a-brac filling nooks, crannies and walls. Many of these items are one-of-a-kind antiques sourced by the pub team from various places across the United Kingdom.

Whether guests are hankering for a perfect pint or a savoury bite, Dubh Linn Gate has something on the menu to please their palettes. Dubh Linn Gate’s two dozen taps, pumping up both Irish and local craft beer, is a perfect way to honour its locale in the heart of Vancouver’s brewery district. Choose from well-known local brews (Parallel 49, Steamworks and Red Racer, just to name a few), or Irish classics like the standby Guinness Stout or a flavourful Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale. Thirsty thrill-seekers can enjoy a selection from the expansive whiskey menu, with an impressive 25 varieties on offer at value pricing.

Victor Pulleyblank, Dubh Linn Gate’s Head Chef, brings some serious culinary chops to this pub’s new kitchen. With successful stints at top-notch restaurants including Chambar, Araxi, Blue Water Cafe and West, Victor has built a stout menu of pub favourites combined with local flavours for guests to pair with their pours. Hungry patrons will discover savoury options like whiskey-cured steelhead freshly plucked from B.C. waters; chicken wings harvested from local poultry farms; crispy fish and chips (gluten-free option available); and traditional bangers and mash with pork sausage from North Vancouver’s Two Rivers Specialty Meats.

In true Irish style, Dubh Linn Gate’s toe-tapping live music will get guests into the spirit and likely inspire a little spontaneous dancing.
