Local Love: Vancouver Home + Design Show unveils its top five can’t-miss features

Homegrown design, entertaining and home improvement to take over the Vancouver Convention Centre West, October 22-25, 2015

 

The Vancouver Home + Design Show is going local with its list of top five can’t-miss features showcasing the best the city has to offer in design, entertaining and home improvement. Happening October 22-25, 2015 at the Vancouver Convention Centre West, this year’s show promises to bring together a full range of homegrown experts, vendors and products all under one roof, for four days only.

Herewith, the Vancouver Home + Design Show’s list of local hotspots to hit up at this year’s show.

Main Stage

Prepare yourself for a crash course in creating the ultimate pad, straight from the experts on the Main Stage. Get the goods from must-see presenters including Vancouver’s very own top talent, such as W Network’s Jillian Harris & Todd Talbot, style and entertainment expert Susie Wall, and interior designers Jamie Banfield and Sarah Gallop. Vancouver Magazine Cooking Stage

Aspiring home cooks, arrive with your recipe cards at the ready! Vancouver’s top chefs, butchers and sommeliers, including Juno Kim from Juno Kim Catering, independent wine consultant Kurtis Kolt, Zuzana Harsaghy from Black+Blue, Coast Restaurant’s James Olberg, Sheldon Maloff from Provence Marinaside and more will take to the Vancouver Magazine Cooking Stage to excite palates and educate foodies with in-depth demos featuring expert techniques, tried-and-true kitchen cheats and can’t-miss culinary trends. Ultimate Upcycle Challenge: Take A Seat

Do-gooders, take note! Fifteen of Vancouver’s top tastemakers, including CTV’s Norma Reid, Global BC’s Leigh Kjekstad, Shaw TV’s Peter Verge and Dunia Tozy, bloggers Carlle Chatten, Christie Lohr and Nicolle Hodges and designer Jamie Banfield to turn drab into fab for a cause. BC Hydro Power Smart Dream Home

An energy efficient home can also be a stylish one! Local designer Jamie Banfield of Jamie Banfield Design will create the ultimate dream house combining contemporary design and energy conservation. Show goers will learn easy ways to lower your energy bills while creating an eye pleasing living space. It’s official, energy efficiency can fit into any space. Presented by BC Hydro Power Smart. Designed by Jamie Banfield Design.

Ottoman Empire

Ottomans from top local retailers including Mint Interiors, 18Karat, Peridot and more do double duty thanks to on-trend trays that take them from footrest to coffee table in one fell swoop – saving precious square footage in the process. Featuring styles ranging from mid-century modern to rustic-contemporary and everything in between, this homage to high design and functionality will appeal to homeowner and renters of all tastes.
