Great Family Day Trip

Granite Falls Regional Park

Granite Falls Regional Park is located just a short distance east of Mission on Ridgeview Rd in Deroche. Just follow Highway 7 and look for the sign, just before the turn at Sylvester Road.

The suspension bridge is one of three in the lower mainland along with Capilano and Lynn Valley. The Cascade Falls bridge is a little shorter and not as high than the other two and so is a good first choice for those who may be a little nervous about heights. The falls themselves are 30 metres in height and the viewing platforms provide great vantage points for photos. There are washrooms near the parking lot and a small picnic site near the creek.

Innergex, a run-of-river power company teamed up with the Fraser Valley Regional District to upgrade the suspension bridge and trails. The new suspension bridge just opened in April and has proven to be a big draw. With good weather ahead, this park provides a great destination for a family outing.

On the way back you might want to stop by the Mission Abbey. Its scenic grounds are open to the public and it is an ideal place for a picnic, peaceful walk or a photo shoot.
