Turkey Time Wine @Sam_WineTeacher

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and for many that means roasting a turkey and gathering with family and friends. As far as wine is concerned, turkey is a very versatile dish. You have so many wines to choose from. What wine to serve depends a little on what other side dishes will be served. Whatever the case, you’ll need a wine with some acidity – crisp and refreshing to counter the richness of the meal. Wines that have citrus or red berry notes, such as raspberry and cranberry, work well here. Clean, refreshing and bright fruit flavours, that is precisely why you should choose a BC wine. Some possibilities include:

Sparkling – go for a Rosé here with some fruity flavours

8th Generation’s Confidence, Bella or The View’s Distraction

White

Chardonnay – Little Farm, Cassini or Cedar Creek

Gewürztraminer – Hillside or Meyer Family Vineyards,

Pinot Gris – Gray Monk, Harper’s Trail, Bench 1775 or Haywire

Riesling – Summerhill, Gray Monk, Ex Nihilo or Wild Goose

Rosé

Quails’ Gate, Haywire or Clos du Soleil

Reds

Cabernet Franc – Eau Vivre, Cassini or Hester Creek

Gamay – Mount Boucherie, Desert Hills or Joie

Merlot – Township 7, Chaberton, Orofino, Spierhead or Lake Breeze

Pinot Noir – 50th Parallel, Howling Bluff, 8th Generation

Pinotage – Stoneboat

Sangiovese – Sandhill

Syrah – Moon Curser, Siren’s Call or C. C. Jentsch

And remember to give thanks for all the wonderful wines we have in BC.
