MOMS AND KIDS GET IN THE PICTURE

MOMS AND KIDS GET IN THE PICTURE NOVEMBER 14TH TO SUPPORT THOSE SUFFERING FROM POST PARTUM DEPRESSION

Mothers and their children are invited to register for The Good Mother Photo Event, coming to Vancouver for the first time November 14, 2015. The event celebrates mothers and their children while also raising funds for the Pacific Post Partum Support Society.

The event will feature a roster of photographers working in 10-minute sessions. During their photo shoot, moms and kids can opt to hold up signs that read slogans like, “You are amazing” and “You are a good mother,” as a way to send positive, empowering messages not just to those taking part in the photo shoots but to those viewing the images as well.

“It’s an opportunity for people to get some beautiful photos that they can take home and treasure. But more than that, it’s about being part of a sisterhood, a collection of moms who understand each other and who understand the struggles we’re all going through,” says photographer and Good Mother Project founder Eran Sudds.

Sudds is a post partum depression survivor who found solace and support after reaching out to the Pacific Post Partum Support Society after the birth of her son. She launched the Good Mother Project in May 2015 as a way to pay it forward. The PPPSS reaches over 3500 women and familiar a year, offering various programs for women suffering from distress, depression or anxiety after giving birth or adopting a child.

“We rely on private donations quite a bit, so this fundraiser helps us tremendously and it will make a huge difference,” says Sheila Duffy, director of the PPPSS. “And by coming to this event it really is making a statement and being an activist for all mothers to get the support that they need so they can be the best mothers they can be.”

The Good Mother Photo event will be held at the Scotiabank Dance Centre at 677 Davie Street in Vancouver from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm on November 14th, 2015. Participants are invited to register for their photo session at www.goodmotherproject.com/vancouver-photo-sessions/. Cost is $50 per session, with free makeup touch-ups, coffee and snacks provided.

The Good Mother Project is a community of mothers sharing the realities of motherhood with honesty, bravery and heart. Women from around the globe are invited to share their stories and words of encouragement with one another online and via Good Mother Photo sessions.
