Hot on the heels of earning the coveted title of Vancouver’s best new restaurant by The Globe & Mail’s Alexandra Gill — along with its sister restaurant Grapes & Soda — the team at Royal Dinette is pleased to announce a series of exclusive events.

After ringing in 2016 with a special New Year’s Eve dinner service, Chef/Owner David Gunawan and Head Chef Jack Chen will welcome distinguished Danish counterparts, Jonathan Tam and Rasmus Leck Fischer, for one-night-only guest chef dinners in January before hosting the third edition of their popular “Ugly Duckling” dinner in February.

 

New Year’s Eve Dinner Services

Thursday, December. 31 at 5:30 p.m. & 8:30 p.m.

Before Royal Dinette leaps into 2016 with the series of collaborative and Ugly Duckling dinners, the restaurant will host exclusive New Year’s Eve dinners, with a five-course early seating at 5:30 p.m. for $65 per person plus tax and gratuity and a seven-course late seating at 8:30 p.m. for $85 per person plus tax and gratuity. Beverage pairings are also available for both seatings for $45 and $65, respectively. A limited number of seats are available for both services and reservations are recommended by calling 604-974-8077.

 

Royal Dinette Guest Chef Dinner with Chef Jonathan Tam

Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m.

Chefs Gunawan and Chen will join forces with Jonathan Tam, Creative Sous Chef and Head of R&D at Copenhagen Michelin-starred Restaurant Relæ, which captured the crown as Copenhagen’s Best New Restaurant in 2011 and was recently ranked No. 45 on S. Pellegrino and Acqua Panna’s 2015 List of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Prior to joining Relæ in 2009 where he met Gunawan, Tam served two years as Chef de Partie at renowned Copenhagen eatery Noma, which has been bestowed with the title of the world’s best restaurant four times by British magazine Restaurant.

Gastronomisk Innovation + Royal Dinette: A Dinner with Chef Rasmus Leck Fischer

Saturday, Jan. 30 at 6:30 p.m.

As part of Dine Out Vancouver Festival’s World Chef Exchange, Royal Dinette will welcome respected speaker, author and contemporary Rasmus Leck Fischer to the fold for a six-course pop-up dinner that will showcase both Royal Dinette and Fischer’s pre-eminent focus on providing locally sourced and sustainably procured farm-to-table cuisine. The pioneer behind Copenhagen’s Gastronomisk Innovation, Fischer previously worked at Michelin-starred restaurants Chez Bruno in France, Martin Berasetegui in Spain and Søllerød Kro in Copenhagen.

Ugly Duckling Dinner: Part 3

Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m.

Royal Dinette hosts the third chapter of its popular “Ugly Duckling” Dinner Series, a five-course feast that brings the concept of “trash cooking”, food-waste awareness and sustainability issues to light via unforgettable fare that gives the “ugly ducklings” of the culinary world — those underutilized, often discarded outcasts, offcuts and scraps like stems, stalks, leaves and rinds — their due.
