TIME TO JAM All-day breakfast joint Jam Cafe officially opens on Beatty Street

Victoria’s popular all-day breakfast joint Jam Cafe makes its mark across the water with the opening of its first Vancouver location at 556 Beatty Street in Crosstown this week. Diners can expect classic, rustic breakfast and brunch fare, with definite West Coast influences, at the new 50-seat eatery.

 

“After many years in the restaurant industry I felt the timing was perfect to get involved in my own operation. What better way to do this than to team up with my very close friends from Victoria and introduce Vancouver to Jam Cafe,” explains Mike Deas-Dawlish, who previously held executive and management positions at Aburi Restaurants and Sequoia Group and is now co-owner of Jam Cafe on Beatty. “Jim and Candy have created something special in Victoria. We definitely hope Vancouverites will come to love Jam Cafe’s food and ambience as much as we do.”

 

Jam Cafe on Beatty features many of the same beloved dishes from Victoria, including Green Eggs and Ham; The Gravy Coupe with fried chicken, buttermilk biscuits, house sausage gravy, sunny side eggs, and hash browns; Pork Belly Benedict with onion jam and barbecue sauce; Cracker Jack with banana and Nutella, French-toast style; red velvet pancakes; Chicken N’ Waffles; and Pulled Pork Pancakes, a double stack layered with pulled pork and topped with maple barbecue glaze, jalapeno sour cream, and pickled cabbage.

 

Lunch specific specialties include The Skillet with macaroni and cheese in a cast iron skillet topped with bacon, and The Pork Belly Po’Boy. In addition to coffee, tea, and milkshakes, Jam Cafe on Beatty is licensed so diners can enjoy a Bacon Bourbon Caesar, beer, or mimoas with their meals.

 

The room, designed by the Walmsley family, is warm and inviting with a vintage-feel. A collection of venerable, unique, and custom items graces the restaurant walls.
