Alchemy Theatre presents Eva Le Gallienne & Florida Friebus’ Alice in Wonderland

Affordable, family friendly fun in the midst of the holiday season!

Outlandish creatures and quizzical conversations fill the stage as Alchemy Theatre brings you one of the most imaginative tales ever written, Alice in Wonderland which runs December 8th to 18th at the intimate black box theatre, Studio 1398 on Granville Island.

This visually stunning production combines the best moments and characters from both of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There.

Our stellar cast of 11 brings to life over 50 of your favourite characters from throughout the magical world of Wonderland. Annie Arbuckle stars as the curious and charming Alice, who, after leaving her own colourless world, finds Morgan Misic who burrows her way into the character of the White Rabbit. Kyle Wipp as the Mad Hatter and Ann-Marie Zak as the March Hare put the party back in tea party as they serve up their interpretations of their well known characters. Connor M. Styles is all smiles as the Cheshire Cat and Tweedledee while Sarah Holden will have you cracking up during her portrayal of Humpty Dumpty and the Duchess. Charlotte Wright can barely keep her head while playing the iconic Queen of Hearts and Matthew McCarron doesn’t know which was is up as the King of Hearts, the Caterpillar and Tweedledum. Sophia Valentine gets lost in her role as the White Queen, Meghan Nordquist finds the joy in such roles as the Gryphon and Dodo and finally, Tiffany Markwart squeaks her way into everyone’s heart as the Doormouse.

Enough characters, yet? Because to top it off, this cast also performs as different kinds of animals and numerous cards from the Queen of Hearts’ deck of card cavalry. As one can see, there is much fun to be had on stage and off!

About Alice in Wonderland

One evening, young Alice accidentally stumbles through her looking glass and is transported into a wondrous realm that is home to all manner of marvelous creatures. As Alice tries to make sense of this world of grown-up nonsense, she meets the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, Humpty Dumpty and of course, the infamous Queen of Hearts with her playing card court. In late December of 1865, Lewis Carroll first introduced Alice to Wonderland, and the world. After 150 years, his readers continue to make it one of the best-selling stories of all time.

About Alchemy Theatre

Alchemy Theatre is an innovative, emergent theatre group, and the amalgamation of the talents and dedication of a group of young performers from across the Lower Mainland. Having met while working together on the Vagabond Players’ production of Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet), the group created something magical – and it wasn’t just the magic on the stage. This production brought together a pool of talented actors whose chemistry was undeniable and who were drawn together through their mutual desire to produce alternative theatrical works, as well as old classics with a new spin. After forming their own theatre group in the spring of 2014, Alchemy Theatre staged their summer theatre productions of Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and The Taming of the Shrew at the Bernie Legge Theatre. After presenting the critically acclaimed Agnes of God at the Pal Studio Theatre in Vancouver and the hilarious 3-man show of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare: Abridged at the Columbia Theatre, they are now venturing back into Vancouver to debut on Granville Island with Alice in Wonderland.
