Retro event will include roller skating rink, guest DJs, musical performances, and more, all to benefit BC & Yukon families dealing with life-threatening medical conditions
F.U.B.A.R. (Friends United Beyond All Race) is very proud to present the F.U.B.A.R. Roller Jam, a fundraising event for Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Robson Square Skating Rink.
Robson Square’s skating rink will be magically transformed into a classic roller disco with roller skating for all ages 10 yrs. & up, old-school soul, funk and R&B music, and a fun retro vibe. The event will also feature dance and musical performances, bouncy castle, face painting, prize draws, and more fun activities over the course of the afternoon. To top it all off, there will be a special guest appearance by Jay King of Club Nouveau, best known for their hit song, “Lean On Me.”
“Roller skating is a passion of mine,” says organizer and host DJ Alibaba. “I grew up in California, where roller skating is a big part of the culture, and I used to teach and compete. Roller skating is definitely making a comeback here in Vancouver, so we thought it would be a perfect fit for a F.U.B.A.R. event. It’s going to be a fun and funky party that families can enjoy together while supporting a great cause!”
Proceeds from the event will go to Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon, whose mission it is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
