For the first time in the history of the Vancouver International Auto Show, car enthusiasts will not only have a chance to check out the hottest new cars, trucks and SUVs, but will also have the unique opportunity to drive home a stunning classic car. And not just any car: a fully restored
1966 Ford Mustang Coupe, that will be auctioned off on
Saturday, March 29th, with net proceeds being donated to the New Car Dealers Foundation. With Mustang celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, the Auto Show collaborated with the team from the Vancouver Collector Car Show & Auction and decided to get their hands on an incredible car to auction live. The VCCSA enlisted the help of Prince George’s Terry Deacon, the owner of Uptown Cruisers who specialize in ‘65-‘73 Mustang parts for restoration, and he took a trip to LA to find a 1966 Mustang with undeniable potential. After a complete restoration, the Mustang will be better than ever. Now, when this hardtop beauty crosses the auction block, it will come with a 289 motor, automatic transmission, power steering, new engine compartment, dress up kit, brand new pony interior, and exterior paint. It’s the kind of car that will look good in any driveway. The auction, conducted by Maynards, will be taking place at 2:00 pm at the Red Line Stage, and will be going no reserve, no fee sale, meaning that the last person with a bid takes the car home and no fees are paid to the auction house. The proceeds will then be donated to the New Car Dealers Foundation, which provides scholarships and bursaries to students entering automotive industry education programs, and serves as a supporter and contributor to local charitable organizations.
The date of the auction also coincides with a drive-up of approximately 50 Mustangs from the Greater Vancouver Mustang Association to the concourse of the Vancouver Convention Centre. If you are a fan of Mustangs, come to the Auto Show on Saturday, March 29th. You will not be disappointed.
The Vancouver International Auto Show takes place March 25-30, 2014 at the Vancouver Convention Centre. For more Information, please visit: www.VancouverInternationalAutoShow.com.
