Are you ready for some great adventures? The place to be for guaranteed adventures is Lillooet for the inaugural Lillooet Outdoors Festival coming up on May 27-28.
Neil Curtis from Green Earth Strategies, and one of the organizers of the festival explained, “Lillooet offers an incredible bounty of outdoor activities. The Lillooet Outdoors Festival brings all of these activities together for one very special weekend to kick off the season! Whether you are an adventure seeker or you prefer more gentle activities, the first annual Lillooet Outdoors Festival offers an incredible opportunity to explore the great outdoors.”
Tickets are now on sale for 10 fascinating and unique adventures. Guests can Discover Lillooet by helicopter, by train, by raft or by foot. Guests can do yoga in the vineyard or play sheep pasture golf and more.
One of the adventures is a Cultural River Cruise from Lillooet to Lytton. Kim North, Manager, Sek’el’was Experience Tours commented, “We’re very excited to be partnering with Fraser River Raft Expeditions to offer a river cruise from Lillooet down to Lytton. We believe that the blend of nature, aboriginal history and geological wonder will be an incredibly powerful experience for participants.”
If train adventures are more your style, check out the Kaoham Shuttle and the brand new Lil’tem Hotel. The Kaoham Shuttle, which was named “Canada’s greatest hidden rail trip” in an article by John Lee on www.bbc.com, is a wonderful adventure. Ray Joubert, General Manager, Tsalalh Development Corporation explained, “The views from town or coming over the mountain or along the lake are spectacular. There are often sightings of bears and mountain sheep. The eagles and hawks, the ducks and geese, the lakes and falls. They are beautiful. It is nature at its finest!”
For a unique cultural adventure, consider the Xwisten Experience – Fishing Rocks and Pithouse Tour, with Salmon BBQ. Florence Jack, Manager of Xwisten Experience Tours expanded, “Reactions from tourists in previous seasons have been incredibly positive: most people are amazed to see our old village site, which contains over 80 identified pit houses, which we call ‘s7istken’ in our language. And the tour of the fishing area near the Bridge River Rapids highlights traditional fishing methods dating back thousands of years, that are still in use today.”
Rolf de Bruin from Fort Berens Estate Winery, and another of the organizers of the festival explained, “Whatever adventures you and your family choose during the day, be sure to join us at Fort Berens for a free, family event with live music from 3-5pm. We are thrilled that Cornshed will be performing. This high energy instrumental group performed at a recent Lillooet Beer & Wine Festival, and we are thrilled to have them back again at the winery.”
