NV Brut
Frind
West Kelowna, BC

Pale straw with medium-light intensity.  The nose shows aromas of brioche, minerality, apple, lemon, white flowers, and wet stones.  Good balance and mousse.  Th flavours reflect the nose followed by a medium-plus finish with citrus notes lingering.  Good value BC bubbly.

2021 Siegerrebe
Nagging Doubt
Kelowna, BC
$19.40
It’s a shame too many people pass on this wine because they can’t pronounce it (zee-geh-RAY-buh).   According to one story, Siegerrebe is a cross of Madeleine Angevine and Gewürztraminer and was developed in 1929 in Germany.  Aromas of peach, honeysuckle, citrus, rose petals, and tangerine peel on the nose. Good balance.  Peach dominated the palate along with flavours of lemon, lime, grapefruit, ginger and honeysuckle followed by a medium-plus finish with a characteristic hint of bitterness.  Fruity, but dryer than the nose would have you believe.  Go on, give it a try.

2018 Chardonnay (Max’s)
Penfolds
Adelaide, NSW, Australia
$23.97
Named after Penfold’s Chief winemaker from 1948-1975, Max Schubert.  Lemon yellow with medium-minus intensity.  Lemon, lime, grapefruit, mango, minerality, apple, melon, and toast on the nose.  Very good balance.  The flavours echo the nose followed by a medium-long finish.  Good value chardonnay.

2019 Cabernet Sauvignon
Spier Seaward
Coastal Region
South Africa
$23.99
Garnet red with medium-deep intensity.  The nose shows varietal character though little complexity.  Expect pleasant aromas of berries, dust, a hint of black olives, and some spice. Good balance.  Pleasing juicy fruit on the palate followed by a medium finish.  Good value Cab Sauv.

2021 Big Bang Theory
Blasted Church
Okanagan Falls, BC
$24.00
This wine is an intriguing blend of 59% Merlot, 28% Gamay, 5% Syrah, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon1% Cabernet Franc, 1% Refosco (yes, that is correct) and 1% Pinot Noir.  Garnet red with medium-plus intensity.  The nose shows aromas of dark cherry, plum, cigar box, strawberry, sage, cassis, earth, smoke, and chocolate.  Well balanced with silky tannins.  Juicy, well-integrated fruit on the palate that echoes the nose along with beetroot, blackberry, and black olive.  A medium-plus finish.  Wow, what a blend!  This is a very versatile food wine and excellent with take-out pizza.
