Wednesday Wine Reviews with @Sam_WineTeacher

2021 Siegerrebe
Blue Grouse
Duncan, BC
$25.99
Lemon yellow with light intensity.  The nose is fresh and inviting with melon, juicy stone fruit, gooseberry, and Meyer lemon aromas.  This wine is drier than the nose would lead you to believe.  Very good balance.  A cacophony of flavours and perfume on the palate followed by a medium-plus finish.  At only 11% ABV, this is a lovely luncheon or patio wine.

2018 Palo Blanco
Vinos Atlanticos Envinate
Canary Islands, Spain
$51.98
Amber orange with medium intensity.  This oxidative-style wine (not an uncommon Spanish style) is appealing and unusual with aromas of toffee, dried orange peel, honey, lemon, honeydew, cantaloupe and salinity.  Good balance with medium-light body.  Pleasing fruit on the palate – lemon, oranges, ripe pineapple, wet stones and a tangy briny accent followed by an appealing medium-plus burnt sugar finish.  Serve chilled with olives, sardines, and cheese.

2021 Sauvignon Blanc
Blasted Church
Okanagan Falls, BC
$28.00
Lemon yellow with medium-light intensity.  A varietal nose showing aromas of gooseberry, grass, melon, peach, green apple, citrus, and gun flint.  Good balance.  Clean and refreshing on the palate with lots of mouth-watering fruit followed by a medium-plus finish that drops off a bit suddenly.  Serve with salmon or citrus-herbed chicken.
