Christmas in the Country Debuts at Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, December 5 to 29
Bright Lights, Big Ag
A new family-friendly holiday event debuts this season at Thunderbird Show Park, BC’s premier equestrian show park, located in the Township of Langley. Christmas in the Country will take place Thursdays through Sundays, from December 5 to 29, bringing the sights, sounds and flavours of the season to life with big agricultural energy.
Just minutes off the highway, Thunderbird’s main indoor riding arena provides plenty of cozy indoor space for this family-friendly festival, along with a festive winter dome decked out in holiday lights, décor and displays. Let it snow, let it rain — it will be a fun-filled celebration packed with holiday spirit for everyone at Thunderbird Show Park.
“We’re excited to debut this family-friendly holiday event,” says Chris Pack, President and CEO at Thunderbird Show Park. “Whether you’re coming for festive shopping, delicious treats, looking to meet the farm animal friends or to make unforgettable memories with family, we can’t wait to celebrate with you.”
Dazzling light displays, delicious food trucks, a beer garden and a variety of vendors will bring Thunderbird Show Park to sparkling holiday life in December, providing unique backdrops and photo opportunities to create holiday memories. The magic of the season takes place in a festive world drawn straight from the North Pole, including an artisan market for sourcing unique holiday mementos and stocking stuffers, from a rotating mix of local vendors offering culinary, apparel, and home items including candles and pottery.
For little ones, the highlight is photos with Santa, offered by donation to the George and Dianne Tidball Legacy Foundation that is dedicated to supporting local charities that make a positive difference in the Langley community. Bring your own camera or mobile on Saturdays and Sundays from 2 to 4 pm to capture the moment. Meeting Santa (or crafting a wish list letter to send to him) and doing crafts in the elves’ workshop is just the beginning. Kids will also delight in the opportunity to meet some of Thunderbird Show Park’s farm friends in the main arena, including cows, piglets, goats, and horses. (Animals will be safely held in their pens, not in petting-farm style). Free pony and tractor rides complete the charming, country experience.
Canter In, Thunderbird Show Park’s concession, will be open during the event, serving up family-friendly favourites such as burgers and fries. A rotating selection of food trucks will offer coffee, sandwiches and sweet treats. There will be an enclosed tent with seating located near the food trucks. A separate beer garden offers brews in a festive holiday atmosphere.
Family-friendly holiday movies will be shown on Saturday evenings starting at 7 pm, and local musicians will offer live music on Fridays starting at 7 pm.
