THE THREE MUSKETEERS,

A MASTERFULLY ADAPTED SWASHBUCKLING COMEDY,
LEADS THE ARTS CLUB THEATRE COMPANY INTO 2025

Adapted by Catherine Bush

From the novel by Alexandre Dumas

A CO-PRODUCTION WITH THE CITADEL THEATRE, EDMONTON

January 16 to February 16, 2025

The Arts Club Theatre Company starts the new year with The Three Musketeers, a masterfully adapted swashbuckling comedy, at the historic Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage.

Adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas, this tale follows the adventures of Athos, Porthos, Aramis, and the young D’Artagnan. Newly arrived in Paris, with the skill of a swordsman and the heart of a warrior, D’Artagnan wishes to join the renowned musketeers. To prove himself worthy, he sets off with the trio to thwart a plot of the most dangerous man in France, the evil Cardinal Richelieu. Double-crossings, extravagant swordfights, and sweeping romance remind us of a time when love and honour ruled the world. Packed with wit and action, The Three Musketeerswill keep you on the edge of your seat.

The Three Musketeers is a co-production with the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton. The cast of 16 is comprised of artists local to Edmonton and Vancouver and led by director Daryl Cloran, Artistic Director of the Citadel Theatre. The dynamic set and costume design are by Cory Sincennes with Jonathan Hawley Purvis bringing the incredible swashbuckling swordfights to life on the Stanley stage. Adding to the intrigue and thrill of this show is the work of sound designer and composer Jonathan David Lewis and lighting designer Sophie Tang.

“As we step into 2025, I wanted us to produce a classic piece that was full of adventure,” said Ashlie Corcoran, Arts Club Theatre Company Artistic Director. “The Three Musketeers absolutely fit the bill, and Catherine Bush’s version is a seamless blend of comedy and action. We are honoured to be working with the Citadel Theatre—this production thrilled audiences in Edmonton with its costumes, sets, and finely choregraphed fight sequences. Daryl is a master at staging this type of epic story, and I can’t wait to see his vision come to life in Vancouver.”
