Annual City-Wide Umbrella Sale Raises Critical Funds for
VFC’s Suite of Charitable Community Programs

Vancouver Firefighter Charities (VFC) is gearing up for the 2025 edition of its annual Umbrella Day fundraiser in support of its roster of charitable community programs on Friday, November 7th.

On November 7th from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., pedestrians and commuters will be met by firefighters selling VFC-branded umbrellas for $30 and collecting donations via cash or card at five major transit hubs across Vancouver:

Waterfront Station (Cordova St. between Seymour and Granville)
City Centre Station (Granville and Georgia)
Burrard Street Station (Burrard and Dunsmuir)
Yaletown Roundhouse (Davie and Mainland)
City Hall Station (Cambie and Broadway)

This year’s event marks the eighth anniversary for the Umbrella Day event that last year raised more than $10,000 for VFC community programs that include Snacks For Kids, Toys For Kids and Sports For Kids. All three programs are supported entirely through firefighter payroll and community and corporate donations as well as fundraising events like Umbrella Day that are hosted by the VFC throughout the year.

“Umbrella Day is one of the biggest fundraising events on our calendar and one we look forward to every year,” says VFC Executive Director Eric Himmelman. ”As much as we know grey skies and rainy weather are on the way for the West Coast, this is a great way for us to help brighten the spirits of kids and families and raise much-needed funds for VFC programs that benefit the community at large.”
