Make the Season Kind with CBC on December 5

Annual fundraising event combines community support for
local food banks with live entertainment and contests

On Friday, December 5, 2025, CBC British Columbia’s 39th annual fundraiser, Make the Season Kind, returns with a full day of programming and fun festivities at the CBC Vancouver Broadcast Centre in support of Food Banks BC, the provincial association of food banks.

CBC is honoured to continue the community event, especially in a time when food bank demand is high. According to Food Banks BC, B.C. currently has the second highest poverty rate (tied with two other provinces) in the country. The rising cost of food and housing, along with low wages are some of the major reasons behind this rating.

“‘Make the Season Kind’ is about strengthening community through generosity and kindness, and we’re excited to bring it back to the CBC Outdoor Plaza for the second year in a row,” says Alison Broddle, senior managing director, CBC British Columbia. “As the need for food bank support continues to rise, we’re proudly joining CBC teams across the province and the country in December charity drives and a national kindness campaign to support communities and make a real difference for people facing food insecurity.”

This year’s event features a festive Kindness Tree that lights up the season, along with epic musical performances to bring locals of all ages together in community spirit. The morning kicks off with The Kindness Run, a 5km fun run for all paces, along with chef-created dishes at our Make the Season Kind food truck in support of Food Banks BC. Attendees can enjoy the ‘Bake the Season Kind’ kids cookie showcase, with creations from two local schools judged live by The Great Canadian Baking Show’s Bruno Feldeisen and Jo Mandet. In the afternoon, attendees can join in for Kindness Karaoke and sing their hearts out for a great cause. Join us in making this season one of giving and hope.
