The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO) is thrilled to announce its 2026/27 season of concerts. Audiences can look forward to hearing some of the world’s greatest soloists join Music Director Otto Tausk and Vancouver’s very own Grammy- and Juno Award-winning symphony orchestra.
“In spring 2026, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra travels to Europe, proudly representing our city on the international stage while carrying the spirit of our audiences with us,” says VSO Music Director Otto Tausk. “Experiences like this remind me that music connects people across borders just as powerfully as it does within a concert hall. The musicians of the VSO and I invite you to join us for a season filled with epic journeys and iconic musical experiences.”
EPIC EMOTIONS, ICONIC EXPERIENCES
“This year’s Masterworks Gold series celebrates classical icons such as Debussy’s La mer, piano concertos by Liszt and Brahms, and Górecki’s intense Third Symphony, while Masterworks Diamond journeys through epic musical landscapes including Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony, Grieg’s Piano Concerto, and Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde Symphonic Suite,” says Maestro Tausk. Joining the musicians of the VSO next season are extraordinary soloists including James Ehnes, Hayato Sumino, Karen Gomyo, Anne Akiko Meyers, Jan Lisiecki, Augustin Hadelich, Steven Isserlis, among many others.
Next season, Maestro Tausk shares the podium with some of the world’s leading guest conductors including Osmo Vänskä, Gemma New, Jun Märkl, Alpesh Chauhan, and Alondra de la Parra. The orchestra will also feature contemporary works by some of today’s most compelling composers, such as Vivian Fung, Nicole Lizée, and Philip Glass.
BEETHOVEN SYMPHONY CYCLE
At the artistic core of the 2026/27 stands a truly remarkable undertaking: a complete cycle of Beethoven’s nine symphonies, presented across five concerts as the VSO marks the 200th anniversary of his death. This is a rare opportunity for Vancouver audiences to experience this extraordinary body of work and encounter Beethoven as revolutionary, innovator, and visionary.
VSO POPS
The London Drugs VSO Pops presents a series of five high-energy programs featuring musical tributes to Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel, and Canadian jazz legend Oscar Peterson, along with a cinematic showdown between the music of John Williams and Hans Zimmer.
MOVIES IN CONCERT
Starting in July 2026, the VSO brings another season of beloved films to life with live orchestra, including Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Jurassic Park, The Lion King, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Disney and Pixar’s Up, and holiday favourites such as Home Alone, A Muppet Christmas Carol, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
