Feast on Filipino Flavours at the First-Ever ‘Tanduay Rum Boodle Fight’ at H2 Kitchen + Bar
On August 15, indulge in a one-night only traditional dining experience inspired by
Filipino cuisine at The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver
Celebrate Filipino cuisine, culture, and the joy of shared dining on Friday, August 15, at H2 Kitchen + Bar, located at Coal Harbour’s iconic seaside hotel, The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver.
The Tanduay Rum Boodle Fight is a proper Filipino family function – the kind where everyone’s welcome, the food doesn’t stop coming, and the drinks sneak up on you (in the very best way).
Presented in collaboration with Tanduay Rum – the Philippines’ largest and most famous distiller – this bold, soulful, long-table dinner is made for passing plates, pouring another round, and digging in with your hands. Chef Homer Baisa, pastry chef Martha Ebro, and bartender Taylor Kare – all proudly of Filipino heritage – have combined their extraordinary talents to create a feast deeply influenced by Filipino cuisine with a touch of Southern flair.
Kick off your evening with canapés like prawn-and-scallop kinilaw, brisket burnt-ends lumpia, longanisa-and-egg soufflé sliders, and chicken inasal – some little bites of what’s to come, and a big hint that this isn’t your average kamayan*.
Then it’s on to the main event: a show-stopping spread of smoked lechon liempo, crispy smoked pata, tocino pork ribs, beef rib pares, adobo fried chicken wings, Bicol express, kare-kareng gulay, and pancit palabok Malabon. Classic Filipino fixings round out the table: collard green laing, papaya slaw, atchara, garlic fried rice, cornbread bibingka, pandesal, and fresh tropical fruit. It’s the kind of feast you’ll want to settle into for hours.
Save room for dessert: calamansi leche flan, ube Basque cheesecake, turon, and Taylor’s spiked halo-halo cocktail station are guaranteed to make you rethink what dessert and cocktails should be.
This is a Filipino feast with smoke, soul, and a little Southern sass. Bring your appetite. Bring your cousins. Bring that one friend who always takes food pics. It’s going to be epic, delicious, and very fun. Plus, yard games and live music will keep the good vibes going all night long!
*WHAT IS A ‘BOODLE FIGHT’ OR A KAMAYAN?
These both refer to a traditional Filipino communal feast in which food is served atop banana leaves that have been spread across a long table. Everything is eaten with bare hands, encouraging connection, camaraderie, and family-style fun.
