The National Park Service (NPS) has arranged informal press conferences that include the Pearl Harbor Survivors. An early morning boat ride to the USS Arizona Memorial for interested national and local press is also being made available. The days and times are listed below:
December 5 – BOAT TOUR, 6:30 AM to 7:45 AM
There will be one Navy boat ride to the USS Arizona Memorial for news media to capture b-roll at the memorial. Space is limited and reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Crews are limited to three people each. The boat tour will leave promptly at 6:30 AM from the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center and will last one hour. Please RSVP to valr_commercial_services@nullnps.gov no later than November 30.
December 5 – PEARL HARBOR “GREATEST GENERATION” SURVIVORS,
2:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Approximately 30 Pearl Harbor Survivors with the “Greatest Generation” will meet and greet with visitors at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, fronting the mural. From 2:30 – 3:00 PM, approximately five of these survivors will be available for interviews. NPS representatives will be present to moderate questions from the press. The news media can also capture b-roll of the visitor center grounds.
December 6 – USS ARIZONA SURVIVORS, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Four USS Arizona Survivors will meet and greet with visitors outside the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center bookstore. From 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, news media will be able to film an NPS moderated interview with the USS Arizona Survivors. News media are required to submit their questions in advance to valr_commercial_services@nullnps.gov.
December 6 – National Park Service Interviews, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM
NPS Superintendent Jacqueline Ashwell and historian Daniel Martinez will be available for interviews at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. The news media will also be able to capture b-roll of the visitor center grounds.
November 28 – December 11
News media are invited to visit the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center to film or photograph from November 28 through December 11. Requests must be made three days in advance and include the day and time requested to valr_commercial_services@nullnps.gov.
