Last evening I ventured down to Granville Island and the Institute of Culinary Arts restaurant BISTRO 101.
Bistro 101 is one of over 260 restaurants participating in Dine Out Vancouver Festival and most likely at $18. for three courses the best value for dinner. Bistro 101 is training ground for the students of PICA and the food prep, cooking, and serving is all handled by the students.
If you missed your chance to book a table for Dine Out check the Bistro 101 website for details on their regular menus. Bistro 101 always offers a three course dinner with suggested wine pairings. On Wine Wednesdays (which is every Wednesday) all wines on their wine list are half price. It’s no wonder that Trip Advisor ranks Bistro 101 #16 of over 2600 Vancouver restaurants.
The student servers are knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed chatting with our server about their studies and future ambitions. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed.
Dinner was delightful and we enjoyed every course. We had wine by the glass which included Riesling from Tantalus Vineyards | Kelowna, BC and Hester Creek ‘The Judge’ Cab Franc/ Cab Sauv/ Merlot | Okanagan Valley, BC.
Plates were as attractive as they were delicious. I will definitely be putting Bistro 101 on my short list for dining.
Bistro 101 is open for lunch and dinner Monday – Friday
