NEW JUST EAT VIDEO TAPS INTO GROWING DESIRE TO STAY IN

Food delivery service JUST EAT has released an online video that plays into the growing desire among millennials to stay in and features a number of local celebrities including musician Dan Mangan, YouTube star and prankster Ryan Cheng, aka Chengman, and Mary Zilba from the Real Housewives of Vancouver.

In the mock newscast, the celebrities are seen with their out-doubles, people who are hired to go out on their behalf and attend everything from grand openings, to band rehearsals, to getting the dog groomed. The service enables the celebrities to stay in, relax and enjoy their JUST EAT delivery.

The out-doubles, played by local comedians Annalise Stuart, Aaron Read and Nicholas Simon, are dressed like their celebrity counterparts yet look nothing like them, adding to the video’s tongue-in-cheek sensibility.

“It’s all pretty hilarious,” says Chengman. “But I have to admit, there’s something very appealing about the whole out-double idea. Like most YouTubers, we have to film, pro- duce, and edit our own content, which usually has us working day to night. It would be nice once in a while to have someone go out and film on my behalf.”

Chengman may be speaking for a generation. A recent study by The Guardian about clubbing found that 67% of those aged 18 to 35 say they prefer a night in to a night out.

“The out-double concept and the video itself is a way to have fun with the fact that we all have such busy lives,” says Daniel Tallon, Marketing Director for JUST EAT. “Out-doubles are definitely a case of wishful thinking, of course, but one so many people can relate to. The fact of the matter is, sometimes all you really want to do is stay in.”

JUST EAT has over 320 Vancouver restaurants on their roster, featuring a wide range of cuisines including Thai, Greek and Indian and everything from vegetarian options, to deli snacks to dessert.

In conjunction with the video’s release, JUST EAT is offering $5 off orders when you enter code OUTDBL5 in the checkout until April 10th. The JUST EAT app is available for down- load at the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store.
