On Thursday, July 6, The Cascade Room is hosting a special fundraiser for Aprons For Gloves (a local non-profit organization focused on providing community outreach through the sport of boxing). The Cascade Room’s very own boxer, Miles “The Cascade Kid” Thompson will be competing on behalf of the Cascade Room at the Restaurant Rumble (Aprons For Gloves’ annual boxing fundraiser that will take place at the Commodore Ballroom on July 27).
On July 6, to support Miles in his efforts to raise money for the charity, donations will be made for every Main Street Beer, Jack Daniels Whiskey, and Cascade Food Special purchased throughout the evening at the Cascade Room. Cover charges by donation will also go to the charity. The event will feature live music from Bonfire Ballerina, an electronic punching bag, prize wheel raffles, a 50/50 draw, great food and drinks, and more.

About Aprons for Gloves
Founded in 2012, Aprons for Gloves Boxing Association is a non-profit organization focused on providing community outreach through the sport of boxing. Based in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, the organization was developed by a small group of professionals who seized an opportunity to re-establish a historic boxing program for at-risk women and youth. The program offers free mentorship and training to individuals who may otherwise not have the resources or support to participate in such activities. The sport of boxing teaches discipline, respect, hard work and self-control. Training results in positive self-esteem, good health and camaraderie for its practitioners.
Restaurant Rumble 2017
Vancouver Chefs, Bartenders, Baristas, and Barbers get together to train at the Eastside Boxing Club to fight in the Restaurant Rumble. More information is available at http://apronsforgloves.com/.
