Donates Tasting Fees to Local Charity
A pioneering family that helped blaze the trail for BC’s flourishing wine industry will raise a glass to five fruitful years for Culmina Family Estate Winery when Don, Elaine and Sara Triggs host a Fifth Anniversary Weekend Celebration at their Golden Mile Bench estate September 14, 15 and 16.
Throughout the weekend, guests can take part in an exclusive series of events including a Collaborative Chefs’ Dinner prepared by Vancouver Magazine 2018 Chef of the Year Alex Chen of Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar and Executive Chef Mark Filatow of Kelowna’s Waterfront Wines Restaurant, recently named ‘Best Okanagan’ by Vancouver Magazine for the ninth-straight year. The event will also showcase an Anniversary Rosé created exclusively for the dinner, showcasing the talents of a world-renowned BC-artist.
The complete schedule for Culmina’s Fifth Anniversary Weekend Celebration includes:
- A special edition of Culmina’s ‘Open Deck’ event series on Friday, September 14 from 5 to 8 p.m., featuring R&D by Culmina wines paired with small bites and a special guest DJ playing an all-vinyl set, all ‘served’ in the Tasting Room overlooking the winery’s picturesque vineyards;
- A multi-course Collaborative Chefs’ Dinner with Vancouver’s Chef Alex Chen and Kelowna’s Chef Mark Filatow in Culmina’s Barrel Room on Saturday, September 15 at 6 p.m. The event will include a canapé reception, a Proprietor-hosted vineyard and winery tour, as well as a selection of wines that highlight Culmina’s critically-acclaimed portfolio, such as the Number Series, a selection of library releases and an Anniversary Rosé produced exclusively for dinner guests;
- A send-off, drop-in Continental Brunch on Sunday, September 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. catered by Miradoro Restaurant at Tinhorn Creek and served throughout the winery.
During the weekend, Culmina will donate all Reserve Tasting proceeds to CreateAbility, a non-profit initiative launched in Oliver in 2017 that helps people with disabilities explore art as a creative outlet in a supportive environment.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for our Culmina family to celebrate a happy milestone with Waterfront Wines and Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar alongside all of our supporters, neighbours and friends, while also giving a little something back to the community as well,” says Culmina Co-Proprietor and Principal Don Triggs.
