Fraser Valley tourism groups accepting monetary donations for Lytton, BC

Fraser Valley Tourism Groups Supporting the Wildfire Relief Efforts for Lytton, BC

Communities within the Fraser Valley have come together to support residents of Lytton, BC who were forced out of their homes from last week’s devastating wildfire that destroyed 90 percent of the town.

Tourism and hospitality organizations from this region include: Tourism Langley, Tourism Abbotsford, Tourism Chilliwack, Tourism Harrison River Valley, Tourism Hope, Cascades & Canyons, and Tourism Mission.

Thanks to the generosity of so many businesses and individuals since July 1, storage for household items is currently beyond capacity. However, online monetary donations are still being accepted, and can be made to the Lytton Relief Fund. To date, more than $115,000 has been donated via this GoFundMe page.

Any cash donations collected will be entrusted to Boston Bar First Nations/Tuckkwiowhum Village to distribute to various organizations. Tax receipts will be provided for donations made via GoFundMe.

“We are grateful for the support and donations that have been pouring in,” says AdvantageHOPE’s executive director, Shannon Jones. “Please, if you’re able, we encourage monetary donations that will help the residents and town of Lytton to rebuild.”

Relief efforts are being organized in partnership with Karen Tillotson, Boston Bar First Nation, Tuckkwiowhum Village, Boston Bar Enhancement Society, and Connect Media.
