Wednesday Wine Reviews with @Sam_WineTeacher

2019 Tapestry
Little Straw
West Kelowna, BC
$16.00
This white blend is pale lemon yellow with medium-light intensity.  Peach, pear, citrus, floral and honey notes on the nose.  Good balance.  Pleasing fruit on the palate followed by a delicate medium finish.  At only 12.4 ABV, this is a lovely picnic or patio wine.

2020 Pinot Gris (Golden Retreat Vineyard)
Spearhead
Kelowna, BC
$20.00
BC makes a lot of pinot gris.  In fact, it is our most widely planted white grape.  This one from Spearhead has to be one of the best I have tried in quite a while.  Lemon yellow with medium-minus intensity.  The nose is pretty with aromas of pear, apple, honey, hay, melon, nectarine, and honeysuckle.  Good balance with good mouthfeel.  The juicy flavours echo the nose along with peaches, lemon, and elderflower followed by a medium-plus finish.  Be sure to buy more than one.

2019 Merlot (Milepost)
Intersection
Oliver, BC
$19.97
The grapes for this wine are sourced from a cross-section of their vineyard soils which results in greater complexity.  Garnet red with medium-deep intensity.  The nose displays aromas of ripe red fruit, plums, cherries, vanilla, cinnamon, musk, beetroot, leather, and earth. Well balanced with smooth velvety tannins.  The flavours reflect the nose followed by a medium-long finish.

2019 Red Bridge Red
Orofino
Cawston
$27.99
Garnet red with medium-deep intensity.  Cherries, red berries, cola gummies, plum, earth, and chocolate on the nose.  Good balance with smooth ripe tannins.  The palate displays flavours of blueberries, cherries, red currant, mint, sage, and plum followed by a medium-plus finish.

2019 The Syndicate
Black Market
Kaleden, BC
$32.99
This wine is a blend of merlot cabernet franc, petit verdot, and cabernet sauvignon.  Garnet/black with deep intensity.   The nose is layered with aromas of red and blackberries, plums, cherries, cocoa powder, black olives, bramble, dust, spice, and bacon.  Very good balance with ripe tannins.  The flavours mirror the nose followed by a medium-long finish.  Cellar worthy for 3 – 8+ years.
