PINOT GRIGIO DOC DELLE VENEZIE HEADS TO MONTRÉAL: WINE, TERRITORY AND CYCLE TOURISM AHEAD OF
THE WORLD CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIPS
On September 15, the Consortium will headline a media lunch and a masterclass organized in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada. This event continues the initiative linking the DOC to the world of sports, showcasing to international markets a territory to be experienced and discovered also through experiential tourism and cycling.
From the wine glass to the bicycle, through landscapes, territories and cultures. Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie is heading to Québec for two events dedicated to the Canadian press and trade professionals—events that bring together wine, locations and cycle tourism on the eve of the 2026 UCI Road World Championships. From September 20 to 27, indeed, Canada will once again host the elite of international cycling—more than fifty years after the historic 1974 edition, the first held outside Europe—with a strong Italian contingent expected across the various categories and disciplines. It is against this backdrop of significant international attention that the DOC Delle Venezie Consortium has decided to step up its promotional efforts in the country.
On September 15, the Consortium will host a media lunch and a masterclass in Montréal—organized in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada—to introduce the local audience to Italy’s largest Pinot Grigio appellation. The events will combine tastings with an exploration of the regions of origin—spanning Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino—highlighting their potential not only from a quality perspective but also from a touristic one. This ideal journey through the DOC lands serves as a prelude to the upcoming world championship event. Both sessions will be led by Karyne Duplessis Piché, a Canadian journalist and speaker specializing in the wine world and a prominent writer for La Presse.
The first event will be a media lunch aimed at Canadian journalists and content creators in the wine, lifestyle and travel sectors. Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie wines will accompany a journey organized by geographical area, featuring food pairings and brief presentations highlighting the producers, the landscapes of origin and potential cycling itineraries. The goal is to present a snapshot of the appellation that goes beyond the product itself, transforming the glass of wine into a gateway to the places where the DOC Delle Venezie originates.
The masterclass—aimed at Canadian wine and hospitality professionals, media and cycling tourism specialists—will begin with an introduction to the DOC and its unique characteristics, subsequently exploring the relationship between wine, landscape and cycling. The guided tastings are designed not only to deepen knowledge of Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie but also to present the appellation as a mosaic of places to traverse, discover and experience.
Both events will take place consecutively at the Sofitel Montréal – Salle Monet (1155 Sherbrooke St W), between 1:30 PM and 3:00 PM.
“With these events, we aim to tell the story of Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie by going beyond the product itself and using the glass as a gateway to the territories where the appellation originates,” states Stefano Sequino, Director of the Consortium. “The initiative in Montréal was specifically designed for the Canadian audience, with the goal of presenting the appellation through a narrative that connects wine, landscape, sport and experiential tourism. The link to the world of sports is part of a broader strategy developed throughout the year, aiming to associate the DOC Delle Venezie with a contemporary vision of wine and its regions of origin—one where sport, travel, community, food and wine culture and tourism can naturally interact.”
This new overseas initiative represents, indeed, another step in a journey that has seen Pinot Grigio DOC Delle Venezie strengthen its ties to the world of sports during 2026 —a communication platform chosen for its ability to engage diverse audiences, extend the appellation’s values beyond traditional industry settings and promote a balanced lifestyle and a culture of responsible consumption, particularly in international markets.
