Details: Join us for a lively afternoon with Trevor Lai, an award-winning author, illustrator, and CEO/Creative Director of UP Studios. Trevor will share his fascinating journey as a creative entrepreneur, from growing up in Vancouver and publishing his first book at 17 years old to founding one of the most successful animation studios in China and directing over 200 episodes of the hit animated series, Super BOOMi. BOOMi also starred in the first-ever CG-animated series with the NHL.
Cost: $5/person (free for CSC members)
Year of the Rabbit Paint Event
What: Year of the Rabbit – Meet the God of Wealth and Paint A Lucky Rabbit!
When: Sunday, January 22nd – Drop in from 11:00am-3:00pm
Where: Chinatown Storytelling Centre, Main Lobby
Who: All ages
Details: Join us for a family-friendly celebration to ring in the year of the Water Rabbit! Paint your own lucky rabbit to take home and meet the spectacular God of Wealth (caishen, choi sun), who will be sharing blessings and passing out treats. On this special day, we are offering entry by donation to our exhibit space.
Cost: Free (Entry by donation)
Note: this event takes place on the same day as the Lunar New Year parade.
Year of the Rabbit Heritage Food Tasting + Cantopop/K-pop night
What: Year of the Rabbit: Heritage Food Tasting + Cantopop / K-pop Night
When: Saturday, January 28th from 6:00-8:30pm. Live music @ 7:00pm
Where: Chinatown Storytelling Centre
Details: For all the foodies out there, don’t miss our heritage food tasting night with bespoke Lunar New Year dishes from the neighbourhood. Come learn about the cultural significance of each dish and support Chinatown’s talented chefs. To top it off, we’ll have live Cantopop and K-pop performances in our theatre! Limited spots, please reserve your tickets asap.
