Family Services of Greater Vancouver: Return of Caring Neighbours Campaign

Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV) is once again launching their Caring Neighbours campaign for the holiday season, encouraging the community to support our neighbours in need through donations, corporate sponsorship, and fundraising.

From November 13 to December 31, help FSGV empower the community’s most vulnerable – unhoused youth, survivors and families in crisis – by reaching their fundraising goal of $250,000. This year, gifts go twice as far with Amazon matching the first $50,000 in donations received.

All donations raised provide direct support to over 11,000 low-income families, single parents, isolated seniors and marginalized youth. Through programs and direct funding, FSGV’s Caring Neighbours campaign opens the door to life-changing opportunities for those who need it – whether it’s overcoming financial wellbeing barriers or mental health support.

FSGV serves severely marginalized homeless youth, people in poverty, high-risk victims of domestic violence, and survivors of extreme violence, abuse or neglect. The mounting cost of living has made it increasingly difficult for many of these individuals and families to access essential resources. When their basic needs go unmet, it can have a detrimental ripple effect across many areas of their lives. FSGV’s programs help stabilize unhoused youth, survivors and families in crisis and empower them to start a new chapter through food, housing and mental health support.

The Caring Neighbours campaign, which runs from November 13 to December 31, raises critical funds to advance this work. It calls upon the public to show neighbourly love and donate to help those in need. While it takes place during the holidays, its impact is felt all throughout the year. It’s the gift that keeps on giving, moving youth and families out of crisis and toward a future of possibilities. This year, FSGV has set sights on reaching a fundraising goal of $250,000. Your gift goes twice as far this year, with Amazon committed to matching the first $50,000 in donations received.

“The holiday season poses unique challenges for many people, especially our community’s most vulnerable members,” says Maria Howard, CEO of FSGV. “We are there for them during this trying time, and throughout the year, to offer support that is non-judgmental and trauma-informed. By rallying behind our campaign, the community supports programs that open the door to life-changing opportunities—whether it’s empowering someone to overcome barriers to building their financial wellbeing or encouraging a survivor of domestic violence to write their next chapter. There is no greater gift than this.”

Make a meaningful difference by supporting FSGV this holiday season. When you donate to Caring Neighbours, you will provide children, youth and families with access to vital crisis support, counselling and poverty reduction programs.
