New Fiction Book from British Columbia Author, Timothy Taylor, Supports Local Hospitality Charity

A Vancouver author, a bookseller, and a popular local café are working together to raise funds for the BC Hospitality Foundation (BCHF).  Timothy Taylor’, The Book Warehouse, and Café Medina, are joining forces to launch Taylor’s latest novel, The Rise and Fall of Magic Wolf, on September 26, 2024.  Funds from book sales and donations made by the author and matching partners will be donated to the BCHF, Canada’s only charity focused exclusively on hospitality and tourism industry workers facing critical health challenges.

Taylor is a Giller Prize nominee and author of eight previous books. His latest novel is set in the frenetic and challenging world of restaurants. It’s already receiving strong advance notices. Food network host Bob Blumer has described the book as “a pot-au-feu of fine dining and complicated relationships, seasoned with the bitter taste of abuse.” Canadian novelist and journalist Kevin Chong (The Double Life of Benson Yu) says readers can expect “a sumptuously written story about culinary ambition, restaurant-world vice, and the frailties of the heart.”

The book launch will serve as a fundraising platform as follows:

  • Partial proceeds from copies of The Rise and Fall of Magic Wolf sold at Book Warehouse will be donated, by the author, to the BCHF through to December 31, 2024.

  • Café Medina will donate its reservation fees to the BCHF from October 1 – December 31, 2024.
  • Funds will be raised at the book’s launch party, hosted by Café Medina
  • The Timothy & Jane Taylor Family Foundation will make a private donation to the BCHF, matched by a corporate donation from Dana Lee Consulting Ltd.
