Calls for Support on Giving Tuesday

The BC Hospitality Foundation (BCHF) expresses its gratitude to everyone who supported the Spirit of Hospitality Lottery. From the thousands of individuals who purchased tickets to the businesses that contributed prizes, this generosity has made a meaningful difference.

The lottery raised $44,570, which will directly support hospitality industry workers facing financial crises due to health conditions. While this achievement is significant, it falls short of the $60,000 goal, leaving a gap of $15,430.

With Giving Tuesday approaching on December 3, the BCHF invites the public to help close the shortfall. Direct donations are welcomed and will have an immediate impact. All contributions come with a tax receipt that will help you close out the year.

The BCHF extends special thanks to the Hotel Association of Vancouver for leading this fundraiser since 2017, as well as to the prize donors whose support has been instrumental in its success.

BC Hospitality Foundation executive director Alana Dickson shares “Very few people go a week without interacting with a hospitality or tourism professional—whether it’s grabbing a coffee, enjoying a business lunch, or checking into a hotel or ski resort, your experience depends on their service. Our industry partners,” she continues, “like BC wineries and restaurants, who have regularly supported us, have been hit hard in recent years. Now, we need to call on the public who enjoy these places to step up and support the people who make those experiences special. Our fundraising efforts have fallen short, and the funds we raise go directly to helping individuals, not to research or marketing. When you donate, you get to see the real lives you’re changing.”
