Make the Season Kind with CBC on December 6
Annual fundraising combines community support for local food banks
with a special welcome for Swifties in town.
On Friday, December 6, 2024, CBC British Columbia’s 38th annual fundraiser, now called Make the Season Kind, returns with a full day of programming at the CBC’s Vancouver Broadcast Centre in support of Food Banks B.C., the provincial association of food banks. Twenty-four regional CBC stations across the country will run charity drives throughout the month of December in support of local food banks, alongside a national kindness campaign.
CBC British Columbia is honoured to continue the community event, especially in a time when food bank demand is high. According to Food Banks B.C., in 2024 there has been a record 225,000 visits per month to food banks across the province. The rising cost of food, housing and low wages are the major reasons behind these numbers.
“Our ‘Make the Season Kind’ in-person event this year represents a renewed spirit of connection and compassion where the community can come together, share stories and listen with kindness.” says Alison Broddle, senior managing director, CBC British Columbia. “Through this event we hope to generate support to help with the rising demand for food bank services and make a meaningful impact for those facing food insecurity in our communities.”
The event date also lines up as a perfect pre-concert gathering for Taylor Swift fans and Vancouverites alike, featuring live music and performances that celebrate the spirit of giving while spotlighting our city’s unique sounds and vibrant talent. Attendees can get creative at our DIY bracelet station to make their own friendship bracelets for the concert or just for fun, show off their style at the 360 video booth, plus enter for a chance to win tickets to the upcoming JUNO Awards and events. Join in making this season one of generosity and hope, supporting Food Banks B.C. For more information or to donate, visit cbc.ca/kindbc.
