A Unique Blend of Music, Drag, and Humor Comes to Life at the ANNEX
Music on Main, in partnership with the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival, and Indian Summer Festival, is proud to present Gabriel Dharmoo’s Bijuriya, an electrifying performance that combines music, drag, and humor in a bold exploration of identity.
Gabriel Dharmoo, the award-winning composer, vocalist, and interdisciplinary artist, returns to Vancouver with his vibrant drag persona, Bijuriya. Together, Gabriel and Bijuriya take the stage to blend queerness, brownness, and comedy in a captivating, one-of-a-kind performance that explores the complexities of identity through music and drag. Audiences can expect an evening of eclectic musical styles—ranging from original pop and Bollywood soundtracks to experimental soundscapes—paired with playful lip-syncs and powerful live vocals.
In this thought-provoking performance, Gabriel and Bijuriya combine the joy and playfulness of drag with the depth and intricacy of Dharmoo’s musical compositions, creating a performance that entertains, inspires, and challenges audiences. His last sold-out performance of Anthropologies Imaginaires left Music on Main audiences spellbound, and we are thrilled to welcome him back for what promises to be another unforgettable experience.
Following the performances, Music on Main will present a special free event on February 1, 2025, in partnership with The Only Animal and PuSh International Performing Arts Festival. Slow Social: Around Sound (and Music and Drag) will center around an artist talk, Q&A, and open discussion with Gabriel Dharmoo. inviting communities to connect through relaxed textile creation and conversation.
