Monster Machines Take Over Britannia Mine Museum this Halloween

Monster Machines Take Over Britannia Mine Museum this Halloween

Two Halloween Weekends – October 17 & 18 and 24 & 25

Get ready to experience monster machine madness this Halloween season at the Britannia Mine Museum. “Britannia: Monsters, Machines & Mischief!” runs over two Halloween weekends on October 17 & 18 and 24 & 25, so families can discover the fascinating world of mining through colourful monster machines, hands-on activities and live science demonstrations.

From towering mining trucks to the spooky depths of the historic mine, visitors will unearth the stories behind incredible machines that have powered Britannia’s mining throughout the years. This Halloween, these mighty machines take on playful new personalities, bringing the spellbinding world of historic and modern mining to life.

Guests can join special Halloween themed underground train tours as a rescue crew investigate mysterious machine malfunctions deep inside the mine tunnel. Through live demonstrations, hands-on challenges, and problem-solving activities, visitors will explore how real mining equipment worked and learn how miners used compressed air, transportation systems, machinery, and teamwork to keep Britannia operating. And be prepared to be blown away by the BOOM! special effects show inside historic Mill No. 3 building.

For some mischievous fun, Britannia’s “mad scientists” will bring science to life and transform ordinary pumpkins into exploding spectacles. Kids and families can unleash their inner monsters and brew up some magnetic slime.

Meet six monster machines inside the Machine Shop, inspired by real equipment used in mining operations. Uncover the stories of their mighty powers and important jobs as they moved earth, hauled giant rocks, and learn how these formidable machines have helped power mining at Britannia and continue to shape the mining industry today.

Don’t forget to hunt for treasures lurking beneath the surface at the gold panning pavilion and check out the exhibits in the Museum’s Britannia Story building and the Beaty Lundin visitor centre.

Located 45 minutes north of Vancouver on the picturesque Sea-to-Sky highway, the Britannia Mine Museum provides unique and memorable experiences that engage visitors of all ages. General admission tickets and annual memberships are available online at www.BritanniaMineMuseum.ca.
