Tell your guests you made it yourself! Instacart debuts ‘Lie Pie’ kit
just in time for Thanksgiving
Every year, there’s always so much pressure to prepare the perfect Thanksgiving feast for friends and family. For one, the coordination required is stressful for even the most avid of home chefs. And seriously, who has the time these days? After all the hours of bringing, peeling, mashing, and roasting, when it finally comes time to prepare dessert, most of us are ready to throw in the towel.
This Thanksgiving, Instacart is here to let you have your pie and eat it too, stress-free, with a good, old-fashioned dose of deception.
Introducing the Lie Pie — a kit designed to dupe your friends and family into thinking that you baked Thanksgiving dessert from scratch. Because c’mon, who hasn’t lied to their in-laws before?
The Lie Pie kit includes everything you need for a successful ruse, including:
-
A packet of pumpkin puree to strategically smear on an apron
-
A packet of flour to dust on your counter (or face)
-
Crushed eggshells
-
“Grandma’s” well-loved recipe card
-
Pumpkin-scented room spray
-
And of course, a fresh, fully-prepared pumpkin pie.
All you have to do is keep up the lie.
Ready to breathe a sigh of relief as the fresh smell of pumpkin pie wafts through the kitchen without even turning on the oven? Starting Tuesday, October 7th to Thursday, October 9th, at 12 PM EST / 10 AM GMT / 9 AM PST, visit www.liepie.ca to pre-purchase a Lie Pie kit.Limited quantities are available each day. Customers can arrange for delivery on Saturday, October 11th or Sunday, October 12th.
The Lie Pie is available for a $20 donation to Second Harvest. Second Harvest is Canada’s largest food rescue organization that redistributes food surplus to 5,000 non-profit and charity partners across the country. For every Lie Pie sold, 25 families in need will have a meal on Thanksgiving, courtesy of Second Harvest.
As the grocery delivery service committed to overdelivering, the Lie Pie is a fun reminder to Canadians that Instacart is here to take the stress out of holiday prep — whether you need ingredients in a pinch, or a freshly-baked pie to impress your guests.
