Vancouver Celebrates Malbec World Day

Celebrate 15 Years of Malbec World Day with Argentine Wine Tastings
at Marquis Wine Cellars

This April, wine lovers in Vancouver are invited to raise a glass to one of the world’s most iconic grape varieties as Malbec World Day marks its 15th anniversary.

Celebrated annually on April 17, Malbec World Day commemorates a pivotal moment in 1853 when Argentine president Domingo Faustino Sarmiento tasked French agronomist Michel Aimé Pouget with introducing new grape varieties to Argentina. Among them was Malbec, a grape that would go on to define the country’s modern wine identity.

Established in 2011 by Wines of Argentina, Malbec World Day celebrates the transformation of Argentina’s wine industry and the global rise of Malbec as its flagship varietal. In 2026, the milestone 15th anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect on the grape’s journey from French origins to international acclaim through Argentina’s diverse terroirs.

To mark the occasion in Vancouver, Marquis Wine Cellars will host a complimentary Malbec tasting on April 17 from 11am to 6pm, inviting guests to explore a curated selection of Argentine expressions of the grape:

  • Terrazas de los Andes – Reserva Malbec 2023
  • Luigi Bosca – Malbec 2024
  • Catena – Vista Flores Malbec 2022
  • Salentein – Reserve Malbec 2024
  • Decero Remolinos Vineyard – Malbec 2021
  • Kaiken – Selección Especial Malbec 2021

Wine Flight Friday Tasting Schedule

Throughout April, Marquis Wine Cellars will host Wine Flight Fridays, offering complimentary tastings of Argentine Malbec wines. Each Friday will feature carefully selected wines to showcase the range and versatility of the varietal:
