Cannery Brewing’s Wildfire Dark Lager is Back Again
\Cannery Brewing has announced the return of their popular Wildfire Dark Lager. The release of this fundraiser beer is timely as wildland firefighters and emergency service workers are hard at work fighting forest fires across BC, Canada and beyond. According to BC Wildfire Services, more than 105 wildfires are burning in BC, and thousands of residents are either on evacuation alert or evacuation order.
Penticton’s Cannery Brewing co-owner Ian Dyck explained, “This limited release Wildfire Dark Lager pays tribute to the firefighters who bravely fight our nation’s wildfires. This year, the return of our Wildfire Dark Lager is quite timely as so many hardworking wildland firefighters are currently fighting fires.”
Every year, Cannery Brewing donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this beer to the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation (www.cfff.ca) to support their incredible work.
Dyck explained, “As we have with each batch of Wildfire for more than a decade, this fundraising beer helps support the very important work of the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Every person who fights these wildfires puts themselves in danger every day to keep us all safe. We recognize the importance of the work of the CFFF in honouring those who have died in the line of duty.”
“We are incredibly grateful to the wildland firefighters and emergency service workers that fight the wildfires in the Okanagan, throughout BC, and across the country each year. This annual fundraiser beer is our way of saying thank you to the amazing heroes who bravely fight these fires all around the province and our country,” continued Dyck. “On behalf of our team, we’d like to say a big thank you to the incredible firefighters who work so hard to keep us all safe. We are grateful for everything you do.”
Wayne Jasper, Assistant Fire Chief and CFFF Ambassador, appreciates the opportunity to partner with Cannery Brewing again this year. “On behalf of the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation, it has been an honour to partner with Cannery Brewing for more than 13 years with their incredible Wildfire beers. With wildfires raging around BC, the release of this year’s Wildfire beer is very timely. It’s amazing to see the community come together in challenging times like these.”
Jasper continued, “The label artwork pays respect to the tireless efforts of our firefighters. In addition, Cannery’s generous donation of a portion of the proceeds is very meaningful. We use these donations towards the CFFF’s goals to Honour, Remember and Support those Canadian firefighters who have died in the line of duty as well as supporting their families. We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to everyone at Cannery Brewing for their ongoing support.”
Dyck describes the beer as follows, “Wildfire Dark Lager is a light, refreshing North American Lager with additional flavour and complexity resulting from a darker malted barley. Deceptively light on the palate, this beer delivers complexity without being heavy.”
The limited release batch of Cannery Brewing’s fundraiser Wildfire Dark Lager is available now in Penticton at Cannery Brewing, and at select liquor stores throughout BC and Alberta. For a full list of locations carrying the Wildfire, click here.
