Fairmont Waterfront launches new cinema & dinner series

FAIRMONT WATERFRONT LAUNCHES NEW CINEMA & DINNER SERIES

-Fan favourites and cult classics to be paired with inspired food and décor

This November, Fairmont Waterfront will debut Waterfront Cinema Presents, an immersive new dining and film series that transforms beloved Hollywood classics into unforgettable culinary experiences.

Launching on Friday, November 13, the series will begin with an inaugural screening of Mamma Mia!, bringing the warmth, flavours and vibrant spirit of a traditional Greek taverna to the heart of downtown Vancouver.

Combining themed décor, curated menus and iconic films, Waterfront Cinema Presents invites guests to experience each story beyond the screen through thoughtfully crafted food, drink and atmosphere inspired by the movie itself.

For its debut event, Fairmont Waterfront Executive Chef Harris Sakalis will draw on his Greek heritage to create a four-course menu served throughout the screening. Blending time-honoured Mediterranean recipes with the finest ingredients from the Pacific Northwest harvest, the menu celebrates the rich flavours and hospitality synonymous with Greek culture.

Highlights include shared mezzes of pita and house-made spreads, grilled octopus, crispy zucchini and osso buco, followed by pistachio baklava for dessert. The experience is complemented by a traditional pour of ouzo served over ice, transporting guests on a culinary journey inspired by the Greek isles.

Guests will enjoy the screening from elegantly appointed dining tables and have access to a dedicated bar and classic cinema concessions, including fresh popcorn, throughout the evening. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the screening will commence at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $115 per person and available for purchase here.

Following the inaugural event, Waterfront Cinema Presents will continue throughout 2027 with a lineup of beloved films paired with immersive culinary themes, including Pretty Woman for Valentine’s Day, Pride & Prejudice in the spring, Beetlejuice for Halloween and Home Alone during the festive season.

Mike Pagnacco, Director of Food & Beverage, said:

“Waterfront Cinema reflects our commitment to creating memorable experiences that bring people together through exceptional food, hospitality and storytelling.

Each event has been thoughtfully designed to extend beyond a traditional movie night, immersing guests in the flavours, atmosphere and spirit of each film. We look forward to welcoming guests to our inaugural screening of Mamma Mia!, where downtown Vancouver will transform into a vibrant Greek taverna for one unforgettable evening.”
