The World Premiere of a New Play Written and Directed by
Valerie Methot in collaboration with Diverse Metro Vancouver Youth and Artists
May 6 – 9, 2026
Roundhouse Performance Centre
Some Assembly Theatre Company is proud to produce and present the world premiere of GLITCH from Wednesday, May 6 to Saturday, May 9 at the Roundhouse Performance Centre.
An intrinsically woven artistic process uniting over 170 professional artists, diverse youth, educators, and health care workers culminates in this larger-than-life theatre production that celebrates the company’s 26th season.
Written and directed by Artistic Director and Siminovitch Prize nominee Valerie Methot in collaboration with youth and artists, GLITCH is a bold new work inspired by young people’s urgent concerns about societal expectations, anxiety, and phone addiction.
Faced with social pressures, youth are pulled inside a giant cell phone; an absurd and terrifying world of information overload, competition, and unrealistic expectations. Met with the lure of trendy apps, a psychosocial battle for the highest number of human users escalates. Can the humans break free of the vicious cycle?
Some Assembly’s collaborations between youth and professional artists aim to promote awareness, wellness, dialogue, and positive social change around social issues and issues faced by youth. The company is the recipient of the City of Vancouver Youth Award for outstanding contribution to the youth community and the Deryck Thomson Award for exceptional contribution to community building and well-being.
