The Results are in for BC Distilled’s Best of Show Presented by the Gin Society
On Saturday, May 10, over 500 local spirits aficionados sampled their way through the province’s finest offerings at BC Distilled, British Columbia’s premier micro-distillery festival. The sold out inaugural event proved that the public’s passion for local ingredients includes local spirits.
Attendees of BC Distilled were invited to choose their favourite vodka, gin and other spirit from the 17 small-batch distilleries who showcased their wares at the event. BC Distilled’s Best of Show was presented and calculated by the Vancouver chapter of the Gin Society – a member based group that appreciates gin with chapters in Vancouver, Seattle and New York. With 180 total ballots cast, the results for Best of Show are:
Best Vodka: East Van Vodka from Odd Society Spirits
Best Gin: Endeavour Gin from The Liberty Distillery
Best Other Spirit/Liqueur: Crème de Cassis from Odd Society Spirits
“I couldn’t be more pleased with the support and enthusiasm BC Distilled received from the public, media and local distilleries,” says Alex Hamer, BC Distilled Founder and Event Organizer. ” The micro- distillery industry in BC is just starting to grow, and there is a genuine curiosity from the public to discover what these unique distilleries have to offer.”
Plans for BC Distilled 2015 are already underway. Next year’s festival is expected to be much bigger and more comprehensive with an increase of exhibitors and attendees at both trade and public events.
BC Distilled sincerely thanks the 2014 exhibitors and sponsors.
