Wine Wednesday from southern France

When I first started developing an interest in wine I learned that the Languedoc region is a great go-to place when you’re looking for good value table wines. About six months ago I had an opportunity to try my first wine from the Languedoc’s most honored wine maker, Paul Mas. I’ve recommended his Syrah and Viognier on www.cheapandcheerful.ca. Now I’m adding Cote Mas to followers of MyVanCity. This is a popular red blend often called GSM. G for Grenache, S for Syrah and M for Mourvedre. Add a splash of Carignan and you’ve got a terrific full bodied red that’ll suit most palates. A lovely aroma of herbs only adds to the pleasure of this wine. I loved the balance and the richness and pairing this with your favorite lamb dish would be a wonderful match.
