Marketplace Events launches search for Western Canada’s Next Home Stylist

Winner will take centre stage at this fall’s home and design shows
in Calgary, Vancouver and Edmonton

Calling all bloggers, designers and entertaining enthusiasts: this could be your big break! Marketplace Events, producer of the Vancouver Home + Design Show, is pleased to announce its search for Western Canada’s Next Home Stylist, in partnership with Urban Barn and Western Living magazine.

“We know there’s an abundance of untapped talent design, entertaining and lifestyle talent across Western Canada, and we’ve made it our mission to find it,” explained Jill Kivett, regional director for Marketplace Events. “We are looking for someone who can captivate us with their personality, lend valuable real-world advice and create buzz online and beyond.”

Starting today, hopefuls who reside in British Columbia or Alberta and possess an aptitude for design, entertaining and all things lifestyle can enter at www.nexthomestylist.com. Three finalists will be announced on June 4, 2015, with the winner receiving a grand prize package valued at $10,000 – including the opportunity to make it big by appearing on the Main Stage at this fall’s home and design shows in Calgary, Vancouver and Edmonton.

“We’re constantly blown away by the creative individuals we meet every day in our stores, and we wanted to be part of something that would allow us to shine a light on the talents of young Canadians,” said Hali Mrsic, marketing manager for Urban Barn. “It’s exciting to think about the potential this search holds for one person’s future.”

Each entrant is required to submit an audition video showcasing their creativity and personality along with their application. The three finalists will be challenged to participate in three subsequent challenges to be unveiled sequentially, and voted on by the public on Facebook, between June and August. The winner will be announced publicly on August 17, 2015.

“We’re looking forward to developing a number of great challenges for the contestants,” added Anicka Quin, editor-in-chef of Western Living magazine. “The search for Western Canada’s Next Home Stylist is going to be a lot of fun.”

Entries will be accepted today until April 30, 2015. For more information, please visit www.nexthomestylist.com.
