Local Okanagan chefs cook everyone’s favourite Spanish dish
Tinhorn Creek Vineyards is bringing a taste of Spain to the Okanagan with their first annual Paella Picnic. On Saturday June 20, five local chefs, including Chef Jeff Van Geest of the winery’s Miradoro Restaurant, will create their own version of the famous Spanish dish, paired with Tinhorn Creek wines.
“There is nothing better than a picnic in the Okanagan showing off all our local culinary talent,” says Sandra Oldfield, Tinhorn Creek Vineyards President. “Paella, wine, unbelievable views and great friends will make for a very special evening. This is an essential BC wine country experience.”
Four guest chefs will be cooking alongside Miradoro’s Chef Jeff Van Geest, including Chef Aman Dosanj of Poppadoms Restaurant in Kelowna, Chef Chris Van Hooydonk of Backyard Farm in Oliver, and Chefs Ross Derrick and Jon Crofts of The Table at Codfathers in Kelowna. Each chef will add his own special twist to the traditional Valencian dish.
Tinhorn Creek will be supplying special picnic blankets for the event. Pick the perfect spot in the outdoor amphitheatre to sit back, soak up some sunshine and enjoy a delicious paella feast and Tinhorn wines. Tickets are $75 plus tax and include paella, wine, gratuity and a souvenir Tinhorn Creek picnic blanket. They are available at tinhorn.com/Purchase/Events.
This summer also sees a number of other new events taking place at Tinhorn Creek, including amphitheatre yoga, which will be taking place on Saturdays throughout June, July and August at 9:30am. For one hour, you can relax, stretch and perfect your warrior pose while taking in the scenic views of the Black Sage Bench. Tickets are available for $10 in advance or $12 on the day for drop-ins.
Tinhorn’s Dine & Dance events will take place on the evenings of July 17 and August 14. Each night includes dancing lessons and a three-course gourmet dinner prepared by the team at Miradoro, served outside in the amphitheatre. More information on all summer events can be found here.
