2012 St. Nick (Rosé)
Hidden Chapel
Oliver, BC
$19.90
A blend of cabernet sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Riesling. This wine does not resemble a rosé; it looks more like a light red wine. Ruby red in colour with medium intensity. Cranberry and red currant, with a hint of cherry and spice on the nose. Good balance with the tannin you’d expect from the Cabernet. The flavours follow the nose with a medium finish. This is a great match for turkey.
2012 Malbec Reserve
Terrazas
Mendoza, Argentina
$22.35
This high altitude Reserve Malbec is garnet/black in colour with deep intensity. The nose is rich with aromas of dark fruit, chocolate, earth and a hint of mint. Well balanced with soft, smooth tannins. Big fruit on the palate with a lingering finish. Smooth and easy to drink, this is the perfect wine to celebrate World Malbec Day. It cries out for ‘asado’ – Argentinian barbecue – simply seasoned (not marinated) slabs of beef, sausages, salad and lots of red wine. Salud!
